General features

The METEO module is part of the Ampio SmartHome system. The outdoor unit has an RS-485 interface, and communicates using the MODBUS RTU protocol. It gives the opportunity to use it for integration with the majority of BMS systems on the market.

There is also an indoor unit included that is a communication interface that converts the outdoor station bus to the Ampio SmartHome bus.

The weather station is installed in a place exposed to sunlight, the temperature measurement with the built-in sensor during high insolation may differ from the actual temperature. To use a temperature measurement in the shaded place, use the input for an additional temperature sensor type DS-18B20.

Thanks to its measurement, it is possible to create dependence on weather conditions, e.g. closing roller blinds, folding façade blinds during strong winds, closing roof windows during rain, etc.

Data and water are sent to the CAN bus and can be used to determine a specific event for other operating systems (e.g. closing roller blinds when the temperature exceeds the setpoint).

Typical application

The outdoor device measures many weather parameters:

  • Pressure
  • Wind flow
  • Temperature
  • Brightness
  • Humidity

In addition, two additional sensors can be connected, for those that are intended for a dedicated selection:

  • Rainfall sensor
  • DS-18B20 temperature sensor

The sensor should be installed so that its measurement is not burdened with an error caused by sunlight. Constant values between 11 and 16 V are required to power the module.

Programming the module is possible by using MPROG-1 interface and the Ampio SmartHome CAN configurator. Thanks to it, we can analyse how the module should respond to the connection and send from the CAN bus.
